The Poll doesn't work!

I apologize for the poll thing not working...it's a new feature on blogger, and I think they haven't worked out the bugs. If you have the time to send me a quick email to tell me (as some of you already have) I would love it. For those of you that don't have my email... karinnorstrom@gmail.com . Thanks for voting, and I'm already surprised at what you are picking as favorites!

What Logo do you like?

These are the options from my wonderful graphic designer Shauna, who was kind enough to give me a few to choose from. I would love to hear everyone's opinion on what their favorite is...so vote in the poll in the right menu! a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h are arranged like you would read, so the bi flower would be 'E'. Happy voting...poll closes in one week, get all your friends and family to vote too!

My First Venue!

So one of my favorite stores in Ottawa is now carrying my resin pendants! Located at 242 Dalhousie Street in the Byward Market, it stocks mostly Canadian and local area designers. The girls that work there are super nice, and the selection of jewellery, clothing and accessories are picked out for their uniqueness and quality. Check it out here!

Byward Market

Well I did it! Got the courage up to sit in the Byward Market Ottawa for the first time. It was a super nice day, but unfortunately I didn't get the best of stall location. Can't expect everything to work out exactly as I planned, but I'm very happy that I did it. If the weather is good on Thursday (June 28) I will give it another try. Here are some pictures of the big day...

First Post!

Hi everyone, thanks for stopping by! I am officially in business and ready to bring you my latest designs. To give you a brief background, I hand make resin jewellery using real leaves, flowers, shells etc. I discovered this technique after my friend gave me a pendant from a designer in Toronto. It was so interesting, that I had to know what they used and how it was made. After extensive research, about a million batches of toxic chemicals and my husband yelling at me not to breath in the fumes, I believe I have perfected my craft. OK, maybe not perfect, but a good handle on it.

I love coming up with new ways to use resin and interesting things to cast into it. My favorite part of the whole process is popping the unfinished pieces out of their molds! Because every one is different, it's always so exciting to see how they turned out.

Without giving away my top secret ways...the process is basically mixing two chemicals together to make a liquid plastic, I pour it into various molds, use special pigments to colour them, wait about 48 hours for them to cure, sand, drill, polish, and string on a necklace...whoa! In all it takes about three days to complete a piece.

Keep checking back for more designs, and where you can find me selling my jewellery!
